Lochead maintains hot scoring...Jr. Eagles win their 10th

Lane Lochead scored two goals for the fourth time in five games Sunday evening as the Pictou County Scotians rallied from a loss to the team with the League’s worst team Saturday evening.  For Lochead, they were goals 14 and 15 on the season. The goals played a significant role as the Scotians scored a 4-2 win over the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates for their eighth win of the season at home in Trenton.  The Strait Pirates fell to 6-8-1.

 
The teams were tied 1-1 after the opening frame before Lochead scored his two goals in the second period and the Scotians were up 3-1.  Chris Jordan for the Scotians and Colin Preyer tied the game 1-1 after the opening period.  In the third, Landon MacIntosh for the Pirates and Kyle Nearing for the Scotians concluded the game’s scoring.
 
Pictou outshot Port Hawkesbury 44-30.  The Pirates fell to 6-8-1.  One other game Sunday:

The Jr. Eagles recorded their 10th win in 15 games by narrowly defeating the Windsor Oxen 4-3 despite being outshot 46-21.  Jr. Eagles goalie Andrew Burke turned away 43 of 46 shots in a busy afternoon.  Kayden Kuryluk gave the Oxen a 1-0 lead after one period. The Jr. Eagles went up 2-1 with a pair of goals in the second from Zander Billard and Noah MacKinnon.  Dylan Manning tied it 2-2 in the third for the Oxen before Aidan Stanwick and Dillon Arsenault put the Jr. Eagles up 4-2.  Then with one second left in the game, Aidan MacLeod potted the Oxen’s third goal.
 
Eskasoni is now 10-5-0 while the Oxen slipped to 5-7-2.
 
One game tonight with the East Hants Penguins trying to climb back into first place when they play the Blazers in Sackville at 7:30 p.m.  The Pens trail the first place Lumberjacks by a single point and lead third place the Capstone Colts by a single point.
